Sheffield Swimmers Bring Home Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals From
The 25th Alabama Sports Festival

The Alabama Sports Festival Inc., a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization (IRS # 63-0830085), is a United States Olympic Committee State Games Programs participant and a charter member of the National Congress of State Games. The 2007 Alabama Sports Festival XXV State Games were held June 29-July 1, 2007 in Birmingham, Alabama. Five Sheffield Swim Team members participated in the State Games and swept 11 gold, 1 silver, 4 bronze medals and 4 ribbons in the swimming events they competed. In summer recreational division, 7 year old Matthew Solomon won gold medals for 25 Butterfly and Breaststroke, bronze medals for 25 Freestyle and Backstroke in boys 8 and under age group; 9 year old Therese Solomon won gold medals for 50 Butterfly, Breaststroke and 100 Freestyle, sliver medal for 100 Individual Medley in Girls 9-10 age group; 11 year old Tom Wan finished 5th in all 4 events he swam in boys 11-12 age group. In USA swim division, 9 year old Micaela Duncan won gold medals in both 100 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke, bronze medals in both 50 Butterfly and 100 Individual Medley in girl 9-10 age group; 10 year old Daniel Huang won 4 gold medals for all 4 events he swam - 100 Freestyle, 100 Individual Medley, 50 Backstroke and 50 Butterfly in Boys 9-10 age group.
